The Meze Audio Boom Mic is a detachable boom microphone with a condenser capsule and an omnidirectional polar pattern, designed for gaming and remote work. It connects via cable through a 3.5 mm jack in the CTIA standard, eliminating both wireless latency and the need for charging. The sensitivity of -44 ±3 dB and the frequency range of 100 Hz – 10 kHz are tailored to the human voice band.
The construction follows the brand's manufacturing practices: the microphone housing is made of CNC-machined aluminium with laser engraving, while the boom arm is flexible yet shape-retaining, allowing precise positioning of the capsule relative to your mouth. The 2.5 m cable carries an in-line control clip with a mute button and a rotary volume dial, giving you adjustments without touching the source device's software.
The omnidirectional pickup pattern captures the voice evenly from all angles, which reduces level fluctuations when you move your head and contributes to a natural, uncoloured delivery free of the proximity effect. Given the nature of omnidirectional microphones, a low-noise environment — or the use of software noise reduction — is recommended.
Compatibility covers headphones with a dual mono 3.5 mm input, including the 99 NEO, 99 Classics, 105 AER, 105 SILVA, 109 PRO, STRADA, LIRIC and POET models, as well as sources with a CTIA connector — PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. For devices with separate audio and microphone inputs, the supplied 3.5 mm Y-adapter comes in handy; a PU leather case is also included in the package.
Meze Audio was founded in 2011 by industrial designer Antonio Meze in the Romanian city of Baia Mare. Today, it is one of the world’s most highly regarded brands of high-end headphones. Meze combines timeless design, precision engineering and a focus on the emotional impact of music. The headphones are designed to last for years – both physically and in terms of their ability to connect with the listener. It draws inspiration from Romania’s cultural heritage and the idea of living in the moment to the full, so that each pair of headphones is a meaningful object rather than merely a piece of technology.
The portfolio includes both planar magnetic and dynamic headphones, open-back and closed-back models, and premium in-ear monitors. The flagship headphones utilise the Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver, developed in collaboration with Rinaro Isodynamics, which delivers exceptional clarity, spatial depth and comfort even during long listening sessions. Meze also offers planar technology in a closed, portable design, whilst the dynamic models with hand-crafted wooden ear cups impress with their natural, warm and musical sound at a more affordable price. The range is complemented by ear pads, upgrade cables and accessories, allowing everyone to customise the comfort, look and sound to suit their own preferences.
