The Ypsilon VPS-100 is a reference-grade tube phono preamplifier engineered around a proprietary split LCR passive RIAA equalization network to eliminate the dielectric absorption, ringing, and phase distortion inherent in conventional RC filter designs. Constructed without printed circuit boards, the unit utilizes point-to-point wiring using custom extruded pure silver wire mounted on a rigid aluminum sub-chassis. The signal path comprises two gain stages based on long-life Siemens C3g tubes; the first stage drives a mechanically decoupled air-core inductor for the 2,123 Hz pole, while the second stage drives custom amorphous C-core transformers with paper winding insulation to form the 50–500 Hz poles. The power supply features a 6CA4 tube rectifier, choke filtering, AC tube heaters for the second stage, and passive DC-regulated heaters for the mechanically isolated first stage.
