In the fine tradition established by its predecessor, Wavedream continues to push the boundaries of performance, design and sound quality.
All of Wavedream DAC's digital processing-related building blocks are built entirely on a single piece of programmable silicon - the FPGA. Thanks to the FPGA, its internal hardware architecture could be described by software (very complex in fact). When you update a Wavedream device with new firmware, you are actually changing its hardware. This system allows for great flexibility, protection from obsolescence, and allows Rockna to improve the sound of your converter by changing its internal architecture or adding great new features or improving existing ones.
You will find a number of useful features in the dac menu:
- The preamp feature - Wavedream has a 256-step volume control that allows direct connection of a power amplifier. The volume control has 0.5 dB steps for fine adjustment of resolution.
- The phase select feature - The user can change the absolute phase of the output signal.
- The filter select feature - filters can be turned off for NOS operation.
- The clock setting - 2 PLL digital response modes are available, current and local.
Dither - to improve the linearity of the R2R ladder, an ultrasonic dither is applied to the last 4 bits of the digital 24-bit word.
