In-line XLR filter for removing the DC component from the signal path
The MOON XLR-DC-Filter is an in-line filter with XLR connectors that is inserted directly into the balanced signal path between a preamplifier or source and the power amplifier. Its purpose is to reduce, or completely eliminate, the DC component in the signal, which can adversely affect the amplifier's operation. Installation requires no additional cables — the filter plugs straight into the XLR inputs.
The presence of DC in the signal path places an unnecessary load on the amplifier's power stage and, in some designs, triggers the protection circuits with DC detection, shutting the unit down. The filter removes this component before it reaches the amplifier input, contributing to more efficient use of the available power and to greater operating reliability of the entire system.
Using the filter is recommended solely in cases where the amplifier shuts down because of DC detected from the preamplifier or source. It is therefore a targeted solution to a specific problem in the chain, not an accessory for universal use. Supplied in pairs for both channels; shipping weight is 0.5 kg.
