Description
The Rockna Wavedream DAC is a flagship software-defined digital-to-analog converter built on an FPGA-based digital engine, allowing the device hardware and algorithms to evolve via firmware updates. At its core is the Femtovox clock system, synthesizing the master clock directly at the DAC input to achieve an ultra-low jitter of 300 femtoseconds and 1 ppb accuracy. Featuring 58 DSP blocks executing custom Parks-McClellan 16x upsampling filters, discrete sign-magnitude R2R ladder DAC modules (RD-0 for Signature, RD-1 for Edition), a fully discrete Class-A JFET/bipolar analog output stage, and a 20-stage linear power supply driven by three custom transformers, the Wavedream delivers unmatched transparency, low noise, and organic sound reproduction.

Rockna Audio
The Romanian company Rockna Audio was founded in 1999 with the aim of creating products for sophisticated, enjoyable and inspiring music reproduction. Its founder and chief designer, Nicolae Jitariu – who has also applied his experience in digital audio to developments for brands such as Goldmund, PS Audio and MSB – builds his products from scratch using his own designs. All products are developed exclusively in-house and in the company’s own laboratories, without resorting to standard, off-the-shelf designs.
At the heart of Rockna’s converters lies the company’s own architecture of a discrete R2R converter controlled by an FPGA circuit, which, instead of conventional D/A chips, delivers a natural, full and detailed sound with support for both PCM and DSD up to DSD512. The portfolio is complemented by network players, preamplifiers with D/A converters and music servers. Rockna is the choice for audiophiles who expect analogue naturalness from a digital source and modern streaming without compromise.
