CrystalConnect van Gogh is a digital coaxial cable with 75 ohm impedance, designed to carry the S/PDIF signal between a source and an external converter. It belongs to the top range of the CrystalConnect brand and is available with BNC or RCA connectors, allowing it to be used with transports, streamers and standalone DAC converters depending on the interface in question.
The key parameter of a digital link is maintaining the characteristic impedance of 75 ohms along the entire length of the line, connectors included. The cable is engineered to minimise impedance discontinuities, which cause signal reflections on the line. The BNC connector version preserves impedance continuity more consistently than the usual RCA design.
In terms of playback, the benefit shows itself indirectly: a more accurate digital pulse shape reduces errors in clock recovery at the receiver, lowering the timing uncertainty of the conversion. The result is typically a more stable soundstage, more legible decays and a quieter background to the recording.

The Dutch company Crystal Cable has been manufacturing top-quality cables since 2004.
