The ULTIMA 6 is a 180-Watt per channel stereo power amplifier in Chord Electronics' Full Size range, serving as the entry point to the ULTIMA family and directly replacing the SPM 1050 MK II. Powered by 16 proprietary TO3-style dual-die lateral MOSFETs with continuous error correction and DC-tracking servos, it utilizes Chord's dual-feedforward circuit topology to deliver a 300 V/µs slew rate and rapid dynamic response. Housed in an aircraft-grade aluminium chassis with a 28mm CNC-machined front panel and a dimmable illuminated power sphere, its rear panel features gold-plated balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, high-current speaker terminals, a 12V trigger input, and a C19 IEC power inlet.

The British company Chord Electronics is one of the world’s most highly regarded manufacturers of high-end audio equipment. It was founded in 1989 by John Franks, who brought with him the uncompromising quality control standards of the aerospace electronics industry. Thanks to their exceptional precision, stability and outstanding sound quality, Chord amplifiers quickly gained the trust of the world’s most prestigious recording studios, including the BBC, Abbey Road, Sony Music in New York and the Royal Opera House in London. The brand has become a global synonym for innovation, primarily thanks to its proprietary D/A converters based on FPGA technology and its own patented algorithms for enhancing resolution, which remain among the world’s finest in digital audio to this day.
Chord Electronics’ portfolio now covers the entire chain for discerning listening – from ultra-precise network streamers through to legendary mobile and desktop D/A converters, upscalers and phono pre-amplifiers, right through to powerful integrated, separate and power amplifiers. The current amplifiers are based on high-frequency power supplies and a dual forward error correction topology, which ensures absolute control over the speakers and exceptionally low distortion. All components are designed and hand-built in the UK, featuring an iconic industrial design. Chord Electronics products are designed for audiophiles and professionals alike who seek surgical precision, immense dynamics and musical detail without compromise.
