The Yamaha TRUE X SPEAKER 1A is a compact wireless speaker that serves two roles: it works as a standalone Bluetooth speaker as well as a dedicated rear satellite of the True X Surround system. It pairs wirelessly with the True X Bar 40A and True X Bar 50A soundbars (sold separately), creating a surround sound stage without the need to run speaker cables to the rear positions. Switching to standalone playback mode is handled by the Solo button.
The acoustic section consists of a 55 mm full-range driver complemented by two passive radiators, which extend low-frequency reproduction within a small enclosure volume measuring 88 × 105 × 88 mm and weighing 0.50 kg. Maximum power output reaches 10 W (1 kHz, 10 % THD). Transmission takes place via Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP and AVRCP profiles with a range of up to 10 metres without interference. The construction is covered with acoustically transparent fabric and certified to IP67 (water and dust resistance).
Power is supplied by a built-in battery offering up to 12 hours of playback with a charging time of approximately 3 hours, via USB Type-C or the CC-T1A charging cradle. For fixed installation there is a 1/4"-20 threaded mount, which allows placement on a wall or a stand and thus more precise aiming of the rear channels. The Clear Voice function emphasises the human voice band, which contributes to better dialogue intelligibility in films as well as in noisier environments. The speaker is available in Black, Carbon Gray and Light Gray finishes.
Yamaha is one of the few hi-fi manufacturers that also builds concert grand pianos and wind instruments. When developing an amplifier or a speaker system, therefore, it does not have to guess what a real instrument should sound like, as it has one to hand and can compare the sound to it. This forms the basis of a principle the brand has adhered to since the 1970s, known as ‘Natural Sound’: sound without embellishment and without any inherent colouration. In 1974, this principle was established by the NS-1000 loudspeakers with beryllium drivers, and ever since it has guided everything Yamaha produces for home listening, from turntables and amplifiers right through to AV receivers and wireless systems. Anyone looking for a sound that neither enhances nor embellishes a recording in any way will find exactly that with Yamaha.
