LUMIN T3X – network player with dual ES9028Pro DAC, toroidal linear power supply and optical networking
The LUMIN T3X is a network streamer with an integrated DAC that builds on the proven platform of the T series and adds technologies from the flagship models. The digital section is based on a pair of ESS SABRE32 ES9028Pro chips in a dual-mono configuration, supporting DSD512 (22.6 MHz) and PCM up to 384 kHz/32 bit. Streaming and resampling are handled by the latest LUMIN processing system, which provides headroom in both computing power and storage capacity for future firmware expansions.
New to the T series is an internal toroidal linear power supply with an oversized transformer, low-noise linear regulators and a shielded power compartment that limits interference with sensitive circuitry. The network section features a dual interface with an optical SFP port and RJ45 with a built-in network switch – the optical fibre galvanically isolates the player from digital network noise, while both ports can be used simultaneously, for example to connect to a router and to a NAS or LUMIN L1/L2. The chassis is CNC-machined from thick aluminium panels, increasing structural rigidity as well as shielding.
The analogue output section is derived from the technology of the LUMIN X1: a fully balanced dual-mono layout, a refined analogue buffer with an audio-grade output capacitor and high dynamics at a low noise level. A separate femto clocking system ensures precise timing, reducing jitter and contributing to a stable stereo image and clear localisation of instruments. Volume is handled by Leedh Processing – lossless digital volume control without rounding errors, so the T3X can also be connected directly to a power amplifier. Outputs include XLR (6 Vrms) and RCA (3 Vrms), plus digital USB and BNC S/PDIF.
The player supports upsampling and downsampling to all supported formats, MQA including QRONO d2a filters, and the DSF, DIFF, DoP, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and MP3 formats. Among network services it is certified Roon Ready and offers TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay-compatible, JPLAY, Audirvāna, TuneIn and playback from USB storage. Control is provided by the LUMIN app for iOS and Android, and the device continues to evolve through firmware updates.
