Wadax Studio DAC — reference D/A converter with RAXA topology and integrated streaming

The Studio DAC is a new-generation digital-to-analogue converter that forms the heart of the Wadax Studio DAC Collection. It was created by splitting the architecture of the Studio Player into two separate units — converter and transport — taking over the complete streaming functionality of the Studio Player and adding technologies aimed at higher resolution and system flexibility. It remains fully compatible with the existing components of the collection, namely the Studio Clock, Studio PSU and Akasa DC cables.

Conversion is handled by new mono DAC modules with RAXA™ technology, a proprietary converter topology targeting a lower noise floor and faster signal processing. The result is a more accurate rendering of the harmonic structure of tones, better legibility of micro-detail and a wider, more firmly anchored soundstage. At the same time, Wadax brings its musIC process into the headphone domain for the first time — the new headphone output stage is designed to drive any headphones and offers both a standard jack and a truly balanced 4-pin XLR output.

Digital connectivity includes AES, BNC, RCA and Toslink inputs, complemented by network playback via Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, UPnP, Audirvana, JPLAY and AirPlay. A chapter of its own is the Akasa Optical link, intended for connecting the Studio Transport CD/SACD transport and for further future applications within the collection — galvanically isolated optical transmission eliminates the propagation of interference between components.

The entire system is conceived as a scalable ecosystem with ten performance levels (Level I to Level X). The owner can therefore build the system step by step and upgrade it with the Studio Transport, the external Studio Clock, the Studio PSU power supply or Akasa DC cables, without having to replace the core converter.
