Description

Precision isolation spikes for stable mechanical grounding of components on carpeted floors

Carbide Audio isolation spikes are an accessory designed for Carbide Audio isolation feet, where they provide a stable mechanical link between the component or loudspeaker and the floor. Their primary purpose is to penetrate carpeting, which otherwise prevents a firm and well-defined seating of the system.

The spikes are available in two material versions. The stainless steel version is intended for mechanical grounding, i.e. draining energy from the component into the substrate through a rigid, precisely machined interface. The alternative made from the high-damping TwinDamp™ alloy works differently – the internal damping of the material converts mechanical energy into heat and thus further suppresses unwanted resonances.

The choice of material therefore directly influences the character of vibration transfer within the system. A firm connection through the spike reduces uncontrolled movement of the chassis on a soft surface, which contributes to a more stable soundstage and a more legible bass range; the damping TwinDamp™ alloy additionally limits the transfer of resonances back into the component.

Carbide Audio

Carbide Audio is an American manufacturer of high-end audio accessories based in Llano, Texas, near Austin. The brand was founded in 2019 by Jeff Jenkins, and its main products are anti-vibration pads for electronics, turntables and speakers, which isolate vibrations in both vertical and horizontal directions. Each pad combines a ViscoRing™ viscoelastic damping ring, which acts as a damped spring, with zirconium ball bearings on hardened steel tracks. Thanks to interchangeable rings for different weights, they can handle everything from lightweight sources to heavy speaker systems.

All products are designed, developed and manufactured in-house at the company’s own CNC production centre, ensuring full control over every detail. By combining advanced computer modelling with precision manufacturing, Carbide Audio is pushing the boundaries of vibration control in hi-fi systems. The development process – from concept, simulation and prototyping through to measurement and critical listening – reflects a strong commitment to innovation and uncompromising engineering. From proprietary aluminium profiles with a fine-grained structure to carefully selected materials, every component is chosen for maximum durability and performance. Every product undergoes multiple development cycles and rigorous testing before reaching customers worldwide. Thanks to a network of international distributors, Carbide Audio offers not only cutting-edge products but also reliable support.
