The Yamaha SR-B30A is a single-body soundbar with Dolby Atmos support that expands your TV's sound field without the need for external satellites or a separate bass module. Its development stems from the Yamaha True Sound concept, an approach to sound field creation that combines knowledge from musical instrument manufacturing and professional audio equipment. The result is spatial reproduction of films, series and music in a single enclosure with a built-in subwoofer.
The driver complement consists of four 4.6 cm cone drivers for the Front L/R channels, two 2.5 cm dome tweeters and a pair of 7.5 cm cone drivers for the integrated subwoofer. Total output power reaches 120 W, of which 30 W per channel goes to the front channels and 60 W to the bass section. The chassis, measuring 910 × 68 × 133 mm and weighing 3.9 kg, allows placement in front of the TV as well as wall mounting using spacers, while standby power consumption drops to 0.3 W.
Signal processing is complemented by the Clear Voice function, which improves the intelligibility of spoken word in passages with music and sound effects, and Bass Extension for a wider bass response. Four modes are available – Stereo for music and podcasts, Standard for everyday TV broadcasts, Game and Movie for a wider sound field. New tone controls available via the app allow you to fine-tune the tonal balance without interfering with the character of the content, which contributes to a more legible presentation of detail and more stable localisation of sources.
Connection to the TV is handled by a single cable – HDMI with eARC/ARC support or a digital optical input. HDMI-CEC support allows basic functions to be controlled with the TV remote, while more detailed settings are accessible via the supplied remote or the Sound Bar Remote app. Wireless music streaming is provided by Bluetooth 5.1 with the A2DP profile and SBC and AAC codecs with a range of approximately 10 metres; an output for an external subwoofer is also available.

Yamaha is one of the few hi-fi manufacturers that also builds concert grand pianos and wind instruments. When developing an amplifier or a speaker system, therefore, it does not have to guess what a real instrument should sound like, as it has one to hand and can compare the sound to it. This forms the basis of a principle the brand has adhered to since the 1970s, known as ‘Natural Sound’: sound without embellishment and without any inherent colouration. In 1974, this principle was established by the NS-1000 loudspeakers with beryllium drivers, and ever since it has guided everything Yamaha produces for home listening, from turntables and amplifiers right through to AV receivers and wireless systems. Anyone looking for a sound that neither enhances nor embellishes a recording in any way will find exactly that with Yamaha.
