Inline RCA filter that removes the DC component from the signal path
The MOON RCA-DC-Filter is an inline DC (direct current) filter designed to be inserted into the RCA signal path between a preamplifier or source and the power amplifier. Its job is to reduce, or completely eliminate, the DC offset in the signal that can be passed on from the source component and needlessly burden the power stage. The result is more efficient use of the amplifier's power and greater operational reliability of the chain.
The manufacturer recommends using the filter only in one specific case — when the amplifier repeatedly goes into protection mode and shuts down due to detection of a DC component coming from the preamplifier or source. Since it is a device inserted into the path between components, it requires one extra set of interconnects. The filter is supplied as a pair, i.e. for both channels of a stereo connection; shipping weight is 0.5 kg.
