The Stage III Concepts Pulsec is a reference-class digital audio cable built exclusively for digital signal transfer in the audio chain, available in S/PDIF, BNC, AES/EBU and USB versions. Its foundation is formed by AeroStrand Ultra™ ribbon conductors made of a silver-palladium alloy with reduced cross-section, slowly extruded and cryogenically treated. A conductor designed this way carries micro-voltage levels with high accuracy and without disturbing the timing that is crucial for correct data transfer.
The signal path uses an air dielectric formed by ultra-thin PFA Teflon tubes, which suppresses interactions between the conductor and the insulation. The configuration is coaxial with a return path of silver-plated braid, while the precisely defined distance between conductor and shield optimises the signal propagation speed. Noise rejection is handled by ASPIS™ shielding technology with a full-coverage metallised copper braid and a layer of conductive carbonised nylon, complemented by multi-layer damping of silicate, ceramic and ferrite, which works both mechanically and against EMI/RFI interference.
The result of this construction is minimised jitter generated by the interconnect itself. In playback this shows as a retreat of edginess and hardness in the upper bands, more legible micro-detail and more stable localisation of instruments within the stereo stage. The character of the transfer remains neutral even in systems with highly resolving digital sources and converters.
The terminations match the level of the cable: cryogenically treated silver HYPERION RCA or XLR connectors with carbon fibre bodies and insulators of ceramic-infused polymer, Furutech BNC connectors in silver/rhodium finish and proprietary USB connectors with gold-plated contacts. Every piece is made by hand, with no mass-produced components.
