The Stage III Concepts Pulsec is a reference-class digital audio cable engineered for digital signal transmission in S/PDIF, BNC, AES/EBU and USB formats. The conductors are cryogenically treated AeroStrand Ultra™ silver-palladium alloy conductors in the form of slowly extruded ribbons with a reduced cross-section tailored to the micro-voltage levels of a digital data stream. A coaxial layout with a silver-plated braided return conductor maintains a defined impedance along the entire length of the cable.
Insulation is provided by ultra-thin PFA Teflon air tubes, which minimise interaction between conductor and dielectric and limit energy absorption within the insulating layer. The precisely defined distance between conductor and shield optimises signal propagation speed, helping to preserve the steepness of the data stream's edges. Noise immunity is handled by ASPIS™ shielding technology with full-coverage metallised copper shielding and layers of conductive carbonised nylon braid, complemented by a multi-layer damping layer of silicate, ceramic and ferrite that reduces both EMI/RFI and mechanical vibration.
The combination of precise geometry, air dielectric and thorough shielding limits timing deviations in transmission, i.e. the jitter generated within the cable itself. The result is a quieter background, clearer legibility of micro-detail and the suppression of edginess and hardness in the upper bands that typically betray a degraded digital interface. Timebase stability also shows itself in more accurate instrument localisation and a smoother dynamic flow.
The terminations match the standard of the cable itself: cryogenically treated HYPERION connectors in pure silver with carbon fibre bodies and ceramic-infused polymer insulators in RCA and XLR versions, FURUTECH BNC connectors in a silver/rhodium finish and USB plugs with gold-plated contacts.
