The LUMIN P1 is a versatile digital hub combining the functions of a streamer, a D/A converter with two ESS SABRE32 ES9028Pro chips and an analogue preamplifier. It lets you connect audio and video sources, a television and a power amplifier, creating a compact music system without the need for additional components. The converter supports native playback of DSD512 and PCM 384 kHz / 16–32 bit, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, DSF, DIFF, DoP and MQA formats as well as lossy MP3 and AAC.
The design is based on a dual mono layout with two toroidal linear power supplies placed directly inside the aluminium chassis weighing 12 kg. The unit offers a total of nine inputs: analogue RCA and XLR, digital AES/EBU, coaxial, optical, USB and three HDMI. The output side consists of balanced XLR (6 Vrms) and single-ended RCA (3 Vrms), a digital USB output supporting DSD512 and PCM 384 kHz, and a coaxial BNC S/PDIF up to 192 kHz. The network section is a chapter of its own – a gigabit LAN port together with an optical SFP connector, which can be used simultaneously, for example one for an optical network and the other for connecting a NAS server.
Connection via an optical network contributes to complete galvanic isolation from the digital noise of the computer network, which reduces interference introduced into the sensitive analogue section and supports a low noise floor. Volume control is handled by the Leedh Processing system, which works losslessly and preserves signal resolution even at lower levels – detail remains legible and the localisation of instruments within the stereo image stays stable, with no need for passive attenuation in the analogue path.
For home cinema integration there is an HDMI pass-through function supporting 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS and ARC, allowing films and concerts to be played through a high-quality stereo system. The USB-A input accepts external drives and flash memory (FAT32, NTFS, EXT2/3). The infrared receiver is compatible with universal remotes, phones and automation systems; the package includes a remote control made of acrylic and zinc, manufactured in Austria and Roon-ready, which allows input switching, volume control and playlist navigation. Operation is managed by the Lumin app for iOS and Android with access to Tidal, Spotify, Deezer, TuneIn, NAS servers and local files; network connection requires an Ethernet cable.
What sets LUMIN apart is its focus on natural, musical presentation supported by robust engineering and continuous software evolution. Their DAC-equipped models feature fully balanced dual-mono analogue output stages with carefully optimized signal paths, while their Transports cater to listeners who prefer using their own external DAC. LUMIN’s custom control app is widely regarded as one of the most intuitive and visually engaging in the industry, integrating streaming services like TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and more with effortless browsing and playback control. Thanks to in-house hardware and software development, LUMIN consistently introduces new features and improvements across the entire range at no additional cost, ensuring long-term performance, stability, and a seamless modern streaming experience.
