Network player, DAC and preamplifier in one compact chassis

The LUMIN P1 Mini is a streamer with an integrated DAC and preamplifier, designed as the central hub for both stereo audio and video systems. The conversion stage is built around a pair of ESS SABRE32 ES9028PRO chips in a fully balanced configuration, handling signals up to DSD512 and PCM 384 kHz / 32 bit, including full MQA decoding. Volume control is handled by Leedh Processing, a lossless digital algorithm that changes level without sacrificing bit depth, so the P1 Mini can drive a power amplifier directly.

The design borrows several solutions from the flagship X1. Timing is handled by a femto clock system with two crystal oscillators and precise distribution via FPGA, reducing jitter throughout the digital path. Power comes from an internal toroidal linear supply with low-noise linear regulation, housed in an all-aluminium chassis weighing 7 kg. The network section offers dual connectivity – Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 and optical SFP, with the optical path galvanically isolating the player from network infrastructure noise, while the second port allows direct connection of a NAS or the LUMIN L2.

The input section comprises five digital and analogue inputs: USB with an XMOS controller (native DSD512 and PCM384), optical TOSLINK and coaxial SPDIF up to 192 kHz / 24 bit including DoP64, HDMI to 2.0 specification with PCM 2.0 decoding, and an analogue RCA stereo input with passthrough and custom naming for home cinema integration. HDMI supports 4K video passthrough, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS passthrough together with ARC and CEC volume and mute control, allowing the P1 Mini to replace an AV receiver in a two-channel television system. Outputs are provided on XLR (6 Vrms) and RCA (3 Vrms), with digital USB and BNC SPDIF outputs also available.

The combination of precise timing, linear power supply and isolated network path results in a low noise floor and a stable stereo stage with clearly defined instrument localisation. On the software side, the player is Roon Ready and supports UPnP/OpenHome, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, QPlay, Audirvāna and JPLAY, with native integration of TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music Unlimited, KKBox and TuneIn in the LUMIN app. For PCM recordings, MQA QRONO d2a filters are available, along with optional upsampling to DSD256 or PCM 384 kHz. The package includes an infrared remote made of acrylic and zinc, manufactured in Austria; the unit has a built-in IR receiver and works with universal remotes and automation systems alike.
