The viscoelastic isolation rings Micro ViscoRing™ are replacement damping inserts developed for the Carbide Base Micro audio isolation footers. They are supplied in sets of 3 pieces, which corresponds to the fitting of a single footer, so a complete replacement under a component requires four sets. Swapping the inserts allows you to match the degree of damping to the actual weight of the connected device.
Four load-capacity variants are available, always calculated for a set of four footers: Light up to 13,5 kg (30 lbs), Medium up to 27 kg (60 lbs) and Heavy up to 77 kg (170 lbs). The top version Super Heavy is made of the high-damping TwinDamp™ alloy and handles loads up to 635 kg (1400 lbs), covering even massive amplifiers or loudspeaker stands.
Choosing the correct ring hardness is a prerequisite for effective mechanical isolation. The viscoelastic material converts the energy of structural vibrations into heat and reduces their transfer from the support surface into the chassis of the component. In practice this shows up as a quieter background to the recording, more stable localisation of instruments within the stereo image and more legible low-level detail, especially with sources using rotating mechanisms and with turntables.
Carbide Audio is an American manufacturer of high-end audio accessories based in Llano, Texas, near Austin. The brand was founded in 2019 by Jeff Jenkins, and its main products are anti-vibration pads for electronics, turntables and speakers, which isolate vibrations in both vertical and horizontal directions. Each pad combines a ViscoRing™ viscoelastic damping ring, which acts as a damped spring, with zirconium ball bearings on hardened steel tracks. Thanks to interchangeable rings for different weights, they can handle everything from lightweight sources to heavy speaker systems.
All products are designed, developed and manufactured in-house at the company’s own CNC production centre, ensuring full control over every detail. By combining advanced computer modelling with precision manufacturing, Carbide Audio is pushing the boundaries of vibration control in hi-fi systems. The development process – from concept, simulation and prototyping through to measurement and critical listening – reflects a strong commitment to innovation and uncompromising engineering. From proprietary aluminium profiles with a fine-grained structure to carefully selected materials, every component is chosen for maximum durability and performance. Every product undergoes multiple development cycles and rigorous testing before reaching customers worldwide. Thanks to a network of international distributors, Carbide Audio offers not only cutting-edge products but also reliable support.
