The Stage III Concepts Medusa Speaker Jumpers are a set of four speaker jumpers designed to replace the stock metal straps and simple links on bi-wire loudspeakers. Their construction is derived from the Medusa series speaker cables, inheriting their signal architecture including silver-palladium alloy ribbon conductors and the mechanical damping and shielding of the Medusa series. The aim is to eliminate the bottleneck that occurs right at the crossover terminals.
Each jumper employs 8 cryogenically treated AeroStrand Ultra™ conductors with an enlarged cross-section, routed within FEP Teflon air tubes. Noise rejection is handled by dual-layer ASPIS shielding combined with a metallised copper braid. Termination is provided by reference solid silver spades or silver-plated pure copper bananas, both rated for very high current loads. Manufacturing is done by hand, in lengths from 8 to 18 inches.
The low contact resistance of the connections and the air dielectric reduce energy loss and phase distortion at the transition between crossover sections. In practice this translates into better legibility of microdetail, more precise instrument localisation within the stereo image and a more consistent tonal balance between the bass and treble sections of the loudspeaker. For systems that do not use bi-wire cabling, replacing the factory straps is one of the most technically direct interventions in the signal path.
