Telos Audio Design Master Streamer — a network player that kills noise right at the source of the signal

The Master Streamer is a flagship digital source that tackles noise elimination right where it originates instead of correcting it later in the signal path. Together with the Master Server model, it is built on the Silent Angel digital server platform and is conceived as a network player for demanding systems in which timing accuracy and the purity of the digital stream are decisive. Data transfer into the system is handled by low-jitter clocks and EMI isolation, which reduce distortion at the interface between the network and audio sections.

The mechanical foundation is a massive 6-sided CNC-machined aluminium chassis that physically separates the power supply, signal and processor sections and suppresses the transfer of mechanical resonances between them. The power architecture combines 160V high-capacity capacitors, custom flat silicon-steel transformers and two-stage regulation with staged filtering, Duelund capacitors and AC noise suppression circuitry. Cooling is fanless, via large-area aluminium heat conductors, which removes a source of both vibration and electrical interference.

The computing section is handled by a 6-core ARM architecture processor with 4 GB of low-noise RAM and 32 GB of storage. Conversion is taken care of by an ESS SABRE DAC with RCA and XLR outputs, while connection of an external converter via USB, AES/EBU, I²S or coaxial is also supported. Timing is provided by a precision TCXO oscillator with the option of connecting an external 10 MHz or 25 MHz clock. Playback covers PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD256 in FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, DSD and MP3 formats, with connectivity rounded out by gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB Audio ports.

Thorough isolation of the power supply, grounding and clock signal translates into an exceptionally quiet background, stable imaging of instruments and legibility of low-level detail even during long reverb tails. The VitOS Orbiter system supports Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, DLNA and AirPlay 2, so the unit can be used as a primary network source as well as a transport for an existing DAC.
