The HiFi Stay Lutz Spike is a stainless steel anti-vibration spike designed to eliminate mechanical resonances beneath loudspeakers, amplifiers and source components. Within the Spike series it is the entry-level model, with a simpler construction than the Triple Axel, Double Axel or Flip Spike, yet built on the same technical principle — a pivoting system with ceramic ball bearings that absorbs micro-vibrations without losing the energy transferred into the base.
The body of the spike is CNC machined from stainless steel combined with duralumin, finished with electrostatic paint. The conical shape with a 40 mm diameter and adjustable height of 37 – 42 mm allows precise levelling of a component even on an uneven surface. Mounting is handled by MB screws with an internal thread, so the spike can be screwed directly into the threaded holes of a unit or cabinet. Load capacity per piece reaches 40 kg, so a set of four will support an assembly weighing up to 160 kg, including massive floorstanding loudspeakers.
The rotary mechanism on ceramic bearings converts vibrational energy from the component into movement of the balls instead of reflecting it back into the structure. The result is a lower level of colouration caused by cabinet and rack resonances, which translates into more stable localisation of instruments within the stereo image, more legible decay and a firmer, less smeared bass register. At the same time, the rigid stainless steel construction maintains rapid energy drainage without softening the dynamics.
The spike is compatible with HiFi Stay pads and cups as well as with common spike shoes from other manufacturers, so it can be used on wooden floors or sensitive surfaces without the risk of damage. Thanks to its compact dimensions and high load capacity, it represents a modular solution that can be gradually expanded into a complete vibration control system across the entire chain.
The South Korean brand HIFISTAY™ specialises in the development and manufacture of hi-fi audio accessories that suppress unwanted vibrations, thereby improving sound quality. Its founder and chief designer, Pyun Naiwon, started out modestly in 2002 – with a presser weight for vinyl records. From these humble beginnings, the company has grown into a business that now manufactures a complete range of anti-vibration solutions and protects its know-how with several patents. HIFISTAY’s philosophy is based on a simple realisation: sound quality is determined not only by the components themselves, but also by what they stand on. Vibrations from the floor, from the speakers and from the equipment itself can obscure details, narrow the soundstage and compromise the precision of the bass.
At the heart of the range are audio racks that utilise proprietary VHC™ (Vertical Horizon Vibration Control), X-Frame & Perfect Pointer™ and Anti-gravity™ technologies, designed to dampen vibrations in both vertical and horizontal directions. The range is complemented by mats and stands for components, spikes and spike pads, as well as weighted dampers, which can be used to fine-tune every element of the system – from turntables and sources through to amplifiers and speakers. You’ll appreciate HIFISTAY accessories whether you’re building a new system or want to extract even more clarity, tranquillity and musical precision from your current setup.
