The StormAudio ISP Core 16 is an immersive audio processor in a compact 3U chassis that inherits the architecture of the higher-end Elite range and handles decoding and upmixing of up to 18 channels. It supports Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, MPEG-H and 360 Reality Audio formats, is Roon Ready certified and allows multi-theater, multi-layout and multi-room configurations — in other words, serving several rooms or zones from a single unit.
The audio section uses the same DAC components as the Elite model and a hybrid analogue-digital volume control, which according to the manufacturer extends the usable dynamic range and reduces the loss of resolution at lower listening levels. The signal is output via 16 analogue XLR outputs, complemented by two Toslink optical outputs for a stereo downmix to Zone 2.
The input section comprises seven HDMI 2.1 inputs and two outputs with ARC/eARC, HDCP 2.3, 40 Gbps bandwidth on all ports (4K U+/HD) and HLG support; an HDMI matrix function is available as an option. There are also four analogue RCA inputs (7.1 or stereo) and six S/PDIF inputs split into three optical and three coaxial, covering legacy sources without HDMI as well.
Room correction is handled by Dirac Live with the Room Correction, Bass Control and Active Room Treatment modules along with support for the REW plugin. Standard bass management works with multi-way speakers and multiple subwoofers, while the expert mode with flexible bass routing (optional licence) allows more precise equalisation of low-frequency response and decay in the room. The result is a more consistent bass response across listening positions and more stable localisation of sound objects in space.
Setup and control take place via a web interface, the StormRemote app for tablets and mobile devices, an IR remote control and a TCP/IP network connection with drivers for Control4, URC, Crestron, RTI, Savant and Nice (ELAN). The StormEasy Wizard guides the installer through the configuration step by step. Measuring 442 × 402 × 133 mm and weighing 9 kg, it is a space-saving solution backed by a five-year warranty.
