The Impulsion 8 is an eight-channel Class D power amplifier in a 2RU chassis, designed for installed systems and demanding home cinemas that call for a combination of high power and precise control of playback. In addition to the analogue path, it offers a native digital AoIP input compatible with AES67/Dante and an integrated DSP for loudspeaker management. Its energy foundation is a UREC power supply rated at 3,600 W, which maintains power headroom even when all channels are driven simultaneously.
In standard single-ended mode it delivers 200 W RMS into 8 Ω and 400 W RMS into 4 Ω with all channels driven; in BTL (Bridged Tied Load) mode the manufacturer states 800 W RMS into both 8 Ω and 4 Ω. Peak power per channel in BTL reaches 800 W at 8 Ω and 1,200 W at 4 Ω. The configuration can be selected as eight single-ended channels or four BTL channels, with the mode freely assignable for each channel. Gain is adjustable, with a default value of 26 dB in normal mode and 32 dB in BTL mode.
The signal path includes eight analogue XLR inputs and eight digital AoIP inputs (AES67/Dante), followed by a DSP featuring multi-way speaker management, a parametric equaliser, FIR filters and a limiter/compressor. The digital section works with ESS Sabre HyperStream IV converters. A signal-to-noise ratio of 115 dB and THD+N below 0.005 % (at 1 W) mean a low level of spurious components, which translates into legible micro-detail, stable instrument localisation and an undisturbed rendering of space even in quiet passages.
Loudspeakers are connected via eight channels with three-pole terminals for 4 mm banana plugs. Temperature-controlled cooling operates almost silently, so the amplifier can also be used in acoustically sensitive rooms. Complete management takes place over IP, including real-time status monitoring. With dimensions of 429 × 442 × 88 mm (W × D × H), a weight of 11.6 kg and a width of 480 mm with rack mounts, this is a compact solution backed by a five-year warranty.

StormAudio™, the flagship brand of France-based Immersive Audio Technologies, stands as a global leader in designing and manufacturing high-performance AV processors and multichannel power amplifiers for reference-grade home cinemas. The company is dedicated to delivering the most faithful, transparent, and spatial audio reproduction possible. At the core of StormAudio processors is real-time signal processing executed by dedicated DSP chips operating independently of OS interventions. Combined with ultra-low-noise analog stages, this architecture delivers acoustic performance on par with elite high-end stereo preamplifiers.
StormAudio natively supports all current 3D immersive audio formats while pioneering unique technologies, such as SphereAudio for binaural spatialization over high-end headphones. The brand was the world's first to implement the advanced Dirac Live calibration suite with full Bass Control module across up to 32 discrete channels, guaranteeing smooth, impact-filled low-frequency response across every seat in the theater.
