The Hugo M Scaler is a standalone digital upscaler utilizing FPGA-based WTA (Watts Transient Alignment) filtering technology with a 1,015,808-tap length to elevate digital audio performance. Designed to upscale standard 44.1kHz audio up to 705.6kHz and up to 768kHz (from 96kHz input data) via dual-BNC output to compatible Chord DACs—such as the Qutest, Hugo 2, Hugo TT 2, and DAVE—it significantly enhances timing precision and transparency. Housed in a compact TT-series stackable chassis with polychromatic control spheres, it features a video mode for reduced latency, pass-through capabilities, galavanically isolated USB and dual-BNC connectivity, alongside standard S/PDIF optical and coaxial inputs and outputs.

The British company Chord Electronics is one of the world’s most highly regarded manufacturers of high-end audio equipment. It was founded in 1989 by John Franks, who brought with him the uncompromising quality control standards of the aerospace electronics industry. Thanks to their exceptional precision, stability and outstanding sound quality, Chord amplifiers quickly gained the trust of the world’s most prestigious recording studios, including the BBC, Abbey Road, Sony Music in New York and the Royal Opera House in London. The brand has become a global synonym for innovation, primarily thanks to its proprietary D/A converters based on FPGA technology and its own patented algorithms for enhancing resolution, which remain among the world’s finest in digital audio to this day.
Chord Electronics’ portfolio now covers the entire chain for discerning listening – from ultra-precise network streamers through to legendary mobile and desktop D/A converters, upscalers and phono pre-amplifiers, right through to powerful integrated, separate and power amplifiers. The current amplifiers are based on high-frequency power supplies and a dual forward error correction topology, which ensures absolute control over the speakers and exceptionally low distortion. All components are designed and hand-built in the UK, featuring an iconic industrial design. Chord Electronics products are designed for audiophiles and professionals alike who seek surgical precision, immense dynamics and musical detail without compromise.
