The HUC-SC020 is an unbalanced headphone cable designed primarily for the YH-5000SE, with compatibility also covering the YH-4000 and YH-C3000 headphones. Its two-metre length and 3.5 mm TRS connector termination allow connection to common headphone outputs, while the supplied 6.3 mm adapter extends its use to desktop amplifiers and home hi-fi systems.
The conductor cores are made of silver-plated OFC copper, a material combination aimed at preserving the original signal waveform without colouring it. The internal structure uses a precisely braided conductor arrangement, which contributes to a high signal-to-noise ratio along the entire length of the run.
In terms of reproduction, this construction translates into a clean and coherent presentation: a lower noise floor improves the legibility of quieter passages, while consistent signal transfer supports stable instrument localisation within the stereo image and maintains the cohesion of the individual elements of a recording.
Yamaha is one of the few hi-fi manufacturers that also builds concert grand pianos and wind instruments. When developing an amplifier or a speaker system, therefore, it does not have to guess what a real instrument should sound like, as it has one to hand and can compare the sound to it. This forms the basis of a principle the brand has adhered to since the 1970s, known as ‘Natural Sound’: sound without embellishment and without any inherent colouration. In 1974, this principle was established by the NS-1000 loudspeakers with beryllium drivers, and ever since it has guided everything Yamaha produces for home listening, from turntables and amplifiers right through to AV receivers and wireless systems. Anyone looking for a sound that neither enhances nor embellishes a recording in any way will find exactly that with Yamaha.
