The Extreme DC Power Distributor (DCD for short) is a DC power splitter, not a power supply — it allows you to power several devices from a single external power supply while minimising mutual interference between the connected components. It is designed as a complement to the Extreme Switch and Extreme Router, where a low noise floor and clean power directly affect the playback quality of a music server. The whole unit is housed in a one-piece chassis milled from a solid block of copper, measuring 16 x 16 x 5 cm (4 cm without the feet).
The device offers two unfiltered outputs connected directly to the input and three differently filtered outputs. The Default output represents a neutrally voiced filter recommended as the starting point, Alt1 sounds relatively more analytical and Alt2 relatively more natural. Each of the filters provides more than 80 dB of additional noise suppression and is built from 64 parts selected by ear, including Duelund capacitors. This choice makes it possible to fine-tune the resulting sound character with different power supplies, varying mains conditions or after changing components in the chain.
The Voltage In = Voltage Out principle applies — the DCD does not change the voltage, the maximum input is 25 V with a total load of up to 10 A, which covers most DC-powered devices. When used with the Extreme Switch or Extreme Router, the supplied plug-in adapter is sufficient, while higher-quality linear power supplies bring a further increase in sound quality. The connectors measure 2.5 mm inner / 5.5 mm outer diameter with a length of 11.3 mm (14 mm recommended). The package includes two DC cables for connection to the Extreme Switch and Extreme Router, and an M6 grounding terminal with a socket for a 4 mm Allen key is also available. Finishes are available in satin black or polished chrome.
