ELAC RD 100 — compact radio with DAB+, FM and Bluetooth streaming in a flip-display design
The ELAC RD 100 is a compact tabletop radio with DAB+ and FM (RDS) reception and wireless playback via Bluetooth 5.0 with the A2DP profile. It follows on from the original RD 100 model and was created to mark 100 years of the ELAC brand. The unit's format is intended for everyday listening in the kitchen, office, bedroom, workshop or living area, combining radio reception with playback of content from mobile devices.
A distinctive feature is the digital display styled after a flip clock, which is dimmable and has an ambient light sensor with automatic brightness control in three levels. Operation is handled by separate buttons: there are three presets for DAB+ and three for FM, two independent alarms with a selectable source (buzzer, DAB+ or FM), a snooze function with a 9-minute interval and a sleep timer adjustable from 15 to 90 minutes. The menu is available in English, German, French and Italian.
Reproduction is handled by three full-range drivers — 1 × 2.5" and 2 × 1.5" — with an output of 1 × 8 W and 2 × 5 W. This arrangement divides the load between the larger driver for the low end and the pair of smaller ones for mids and highs, which contributes to speech intelligibility and a balanced presentation at normal listening levels in small rooms. Power is supplied by an external adapter for 100–240 V mains; the unit weighs 965 g.
The package includes a telescopic antenna, a wire FM antenna, a power adapter with EU/US/UK/AU plugs and a quick guide. DAB/DAB+ reception depends on the availability of local broadcasting; DAB/DAB+ is not broadcast in the USA and Canada, where FM radio and Bluetooth playback remain available.
