Carbide Base is an anti-vibration isolation foot designed for loudspeakers, turntables and electronics, addressing the transfer of vibration between the component and its support. The heart of the design is the ViscoRing™, a viscoelastic element supplied in five load ratings — Super Light, Light, Medium, Heavy and Super Heavy — so damping can be matched to the actual weight carried by each individual foot. The feet are sold individually, allowing a three-point or four-point support to be assembled according to the geometry of the component.
The solution is modular: inserts with a ball bearing can be added to the upper part of the foot, providing a further stage of isolation. The Standard version works with viscoelastic damping alone, while the Sapphire and Diamond versions include the corresponding Carbide Base Inserts. Regardless of the chosen version, Nano Inserts can also be used, provided the central hole is not needed to bolt the foot to the device or to seat a loudspeaker spike.
The combination of viscoelastic damping and an optional ball-bearing layer results in more effective vibration control in the region where mechanical resonances are most audible. The manufacturer cites improved fidelity in the midrange and bass — in practice this shows up as more legible low-frequency structure and a more stable midrange, free of the smearing caused by energy fed back from the floor or rack into the component.
Carbide Audio is an American manufacturer of high-end audio accessories based in Llano, Texas, near Austin. The brand was founded in 2019 by Jeff Jenkins, and its main products are anti-vibration pads for electronics, turntables and speakers, which isolate vibrations in both vertical and horizontal directions. Each pad combines a ViscoRing™ viscoelastic damping ring, which acts as a damped spring, with zirconium ball bearings on hardened steel tracks. Thanks to interchangeable rings for different weights, they can handle everything from lightweight sources to heavy speaker systems.
All products are designed, developed and manufactured in-house at the company’s own CNC production centre, ensuring full control over every detail. By combining advanced computer modelling with precision manufacturing, Carbide Audio is pushing the boundaries of vibration control in hi-fi systems. The development process – from concept, simulation and prototyping through to measurement and critical listening – reflects a strong commitment to innovation and uncompromising engineering. From proprietary aluminium profiles with a fine-grained structure to carefully selected materials, every component is chosen for maximum durability and performance. Every product undergoes multiple development cycles and rigorous testing before reaching customers worldwide. Thanks to a network of international distributors, Carbide Audio offers not only cutting-edge products but also reliable support.
