The Kroma Atelier Callas is a four-way floorstanding loudspeaker from the reference series of the Spanish manufacturer Kroma Atelier, conceived as a more accessible alternative to the flagship Irya model. It is handcrafted in Spain and its construction is based on Krion composite combined with specially selected resonant woods, while completely dispensing with metal screws and visible joints. The name refers to the speaker's ability to reproduce the human voice with a high degree of fidelity and emotional legibility.
The driver complement consists of a bipolar configuration of Mundorf AMT ribbon tweeters (Dual ATMx Tech) — one firing forward, the other to the rear — complemented by a pair of 8" midbass drivers and a 10" bass driver from Purifi. The individual bands are joined by a precisely tuned crossover that ensures phase coherence across the entire frequency range. The cabinet, with its organically shaped curves (K-Art Tech) and resonance-resistant material composition, suppresses micro-vibrations and the enclosure's own coloration.
In terms of reproduction, the bipolar high-frequency radiation delivers an expansive, deep soundstage with precise localisation of instruments and clear separation between individual sources. The seamless integration of the bands means the speaker behaves acoustically like a point source, concealing its four-way complexity. The enclosure's low self-resonance does not push the presentation into analytical territory — reproduction remains rich in texture, with bass reaching down to 20 Hz and a fast dynamic response.
At the same time, the Callas works as an interior object. The absence of metal components in the construction is not merely an aesthetic decision — it limits the transfer of vibrations between the cabinet parts and contributes to a quieter background to the reproduction. The combination of handcrafted construction, composite materials and a Scandinavian driver foundation defines the manufacturer's approach to the reference category.

The art of resonance-free sound: the Spanish brand Kroma Atelier represents the absolute pinnacle of high-end loudspeaker design. Its philosophy is based on a radical approach: the elimination of all metal elements from the cabinet construction, thereby achieving sound free from any colouration or mechanical resonance. Krion® material and craftsmanship At the heart of every Kroma Atelier model is Krion® – a non-porous, high-density synthetic stone that provides unrivalled acoustic inertia. Instead of conventional screws and metal joints, Kroma Atelier employs precision joining techniques and specialised thermoplastic materials, ensuring perfectly clean energy transfer.
Why is Kroma Atelier unique? - Organic sound: Thanks to the absence of metal parts and the use of top-of-the-range components (Mundorf, Duelund), the result is a natural, lively sound. - Artistic craftsmanship: Surface finishes utilising genuine gold leaf or traditional techniques from renowned Spanish masters. - Acoustic purity: Every detail is designed to suppress unwanted vibrations and allow only pure musical emotion to shine through. The Kroma Atelier is not merely an audio device; it is an acoustic sculpture that combines technological futurism with the heritage of classical art.
