Basis is an ultra fidelity active subwoofer designed for accurate reproduction of the sub-bass region in reference systems. It combines an all-new proprietary 32 cm YG aluminium driver, an extremely refined cabinet construction and a wide-bandwidth audiophile-grade amplifier. Thanks to this combination it offers an exceptionally wide frequency response and can operate almost as a full-range loudspeaker, even though its full potential is concentrated in the lowest frequencies.
The driver uses a 7.5 cm voice coil with a titanium former and a massive dual-magnet motor, ensuring cone control even at large excursions. The amplifier delivers up to 6 kW RMS on a 230 V AC supply (3 kW at lower voltage), so power reserve remains intact even on dynamic peaks. Despite this, the dimensions stay compact — 56 × 42 × 52 cm at a weight of 70 kg, a consequence of the dense and rigid cabinet construction.
Usable output reaches below 16 Hz with exceptionally low distortion across the entire range. Where other high-end subwoofers struggle with harmonic distortion at the lowest frequencies, Basis reproduces genuine fundamental bass without added coloration. The result is precise localisation of instruments in the lower register, a stable soundstage and bass energy that feels like a natural part of the recording rather than a separate source.
The proprietary DSP crossover allows user adjustment of phase and crossover frequency, includes presets for YG Reference loudspeakers and extensive options for matching with speakers from other manufacturers. Basis can be used on its own or stacked in Duo and Trio configurations with two or three drivers respectively. Stacking does not only increase output — it loads the room with bass energy more evenly and suppresses modal room resonances more effectively.
