The WADAX Reference Power Supply is a dedicated external power supply developed exclusively for the Reference Server — an application where the quality of the DC supply directly shapes the result of both local file playback and streaming. While the server's own internal supply already surpasses older server designs, a separate chassis free of space and cost constraints pushes noise suppression further still. This is the quietest power supply the manufacturer has ever built — its noise figures sit at the very limit of what conventional measuring equipment can resolve.

Modelling and a purpose-developed measurement methodology established an effective DC output noise figure below 100 nV RMS at full load across the 0.01 Hz – 20 kHz band. The design also addresses phenomena that steady-state noise measurement never captures: the variable load typical of audio circuits generates both linear and non-linear distortion, with the non-linear components being hard to detect yet musically significant. The answer is a precisely machined, segmented and mechanically damped three-part chassis that eliminates externally induced mechanical and electrical noise.

The internal division into sections suppresses acoustic coupling and mutual radiation between the individual circuit stages. The circuit solution, active components and overall topology draw on the experience gained developing the power supplies for the Reference DAC. Component selection followed specific performance criteria that frequently ruled out seemingly obvious choices. Particular attention was paid to the quality of grounding both inside and outside the unit and to reversing the electrical phase at the input. The whole comprises nearly 1500 components.

The result is a lower level of noise passed into the server's digital circuitry and a more stable supply under dynamically varying load, which translates into more legible micro-detail, more precise instrument localisation and a quieter background with both locally stored files and streaming. Operating voltage is 100 V/110 V/220 V, the unit has a single output connector and a five-inch full-colour display. Dimensions match the Reference Server: 48 × 43.5 × 26.5 cm including feet, weight 45 kg.
