The A.C.T. 3Zero three-way floorstanding loudspeaker continues a line of models that began in 1991 with the first A.C.T. One loudspeaker and continued through the A.C.T. Two, A.C.T., A.C.T. C60 right through to the A.C.T. One Evolution. The acronym A.C.T. – Advanced Composite Technology – refers to the composite construction techniques upon which the Wilson Benesch brand was founded. The new model retains the series’ classic physical proportions, but brings a significant shift in both the materials used and the driver architecture, including the first-ever implementation of the Isobaric Drive System in the history of the A.C.T. range.
The structural backbone of the design is a single-piece biocomposite monocoque, which is the largest individual component of every speaker in the Fibonacci series. Almost all petrochemical-based materials used to date have been replaced by renewable raw materials from natural sources. The change is not merely ecological: the new monocoque outperforms its predecessor in both damping and cabinet rigidity, thereby reducing panel resonance and minimising the cabinet’s influence on the final sound.
The driver configuration comprises an isobaric low-frequency section integrated into a precision-machined three-piece base, followed by the Tactic 3.0 low-frequency driver, the new Fibonacci tweeter and a special Tactic 3.0 mid-bass driver connected directly to the amplifier. The omission of filter stages in this section shortens the signal path to a minimum and eliminates the phase anomalies and deviations associated with complex crossovers.
The combination of a damped composite enclosure and a minimalist approach to the crossover results in a natural acoustic character: layered clarity of detail without exaggeration, a tonally balanced presentation, and a deep yet seamlessly integrated soundstage across the entire frequency range – from the lowest octaves to the upper limits of the spectrum.

Based on the idea of bringing something innovative to the existing state of the art in audio, the initially small and unassuming company began its formation and production in the UK market in 1989. The whole idea was driven by a business plan based on pure research, real engineering and materials science, which resulted in a grant application that was approved before the company name itself - Wilson Benesch - was even coined. The innovative idea was to bring to the world of high-end audio a carbon fibre material that at the time was the preserve of the aerospace industry or Formula 1. The result is products that are continually winning awards around the world.
