The Burmester 948 Power Conditioner serves as the ultimate foundation for any reference audio system, actively safeguarding your high-end chain from both high-frequency interference and sound-degrading DC mains offsets. At its core is Burmester’s patented active DC-compensation circuit, which continuously eliminates DC voltage components from the mains without limiting dynamic power delivery—effectively silencing mechanical transformer hum and preserving full sonic resolution regardless of time or grid load. Outfitted with eight star-wired power outlets (four with dedicated high-frequency filtering for digital/analogue sources and four unfiltered for high-current amplifiers), a massive potential equalization bus to eliminate ground loops, and integrated surge protection, the 948 delivers pristine current, expanded spatial separation, and absolute stability. Handcrafted in Berlin with a classic mirror-chrome front panel and a multi-function display, the 948 unlocks the true dynamic potential of your components.
The German company Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH, founded in Berlin in 1977 by Dieter Burmester, sets the global benchmark for high-end audio technology. To this day, it remains an independent family-run business that combines uncompromising engineering, handcrafted production at its Berlin workshop and an unmistakable design featuring chrome front panels. It has a long history of firsts – from the world’s first modular preamplifier to the first belt-driven CD player. In 2005, it became the first high-end manufacturer to enter the automotive world, and today its sound can be heard in Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari cars.
Its product range includes pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers, phono pre-amplifiers, CD and network players, turntables, mains conditioners and loudspeaker systems. More than 95 per cent of the components come from German manufacturers, and every unit undergoes a seven-day burn-in period before dispatch, involving more than 300 computerised measurements and a final listening test. Burmester products are designed to last for decades – they are reliable, repairable and ready for future upgrades.
