Soulution 350 Phono Stage – two-stage active-passive RIAA equalisation with adjustable loading impedance
The 350 is a phono preamplifier designed for MC cartridges that addresses the fundamental task of vinyl replay – delivering the required gain while preserving linearity and phase accuracy. The signal is equalised to the RIAA specification in a two-stage active-passive architecture, while the adjustable loading impedance from 10 to 1260 Ω allows precise matching to any given cartridge. Control is handled from the front panel or by remote.
The equalisation networks use high-quality passive components with tight tolerances, ensuring the accuracy of the required time constants. Gain is provided by three wide-bandwidth, low-noise amplification stages with a total gain of 60 dB on the single-ended and 66 dB on the balanced output. Deviation from the RIAA curve within 20 Hz – 20 kHz does not exceed ±0.2 dB and the frequency response extends to 2 MHz (-3 dB).
Power comes from a switch-mode supply complemented by fast DC-DC converters and low-noise linear regulators. This approach provides more stable and cleaner supply voltages than conventional alternatives, which shows in a noise floor below -160 dBV/sqrt(Hz) and distortion under 0.001 %. The low noise level and precise RIAA equalisation contribute to the legibility of fine groove detail, stable imaging of instruments and undamaged dynamics.
The unit features one single-ended phono input (RCA) and a pair of outputs – balanced XLR with an output impedance of 10 Ω and single-ended RCA with 5 Ω. Configuration is handled via three buttons and a rotary control on the front panel, while the LINK connectors (3.5 mm jack) allow remote power-up within a system. The chassis measures 430 × 350 × 142 mm and weighs approximately 10 kg.
