The Burmester 218 Power Amplifier seamlessly unites monumental power with sculptural elegance, drawing direct visual and technological inspiration from the flagship Reference 159 monoblocks. Featuring a screwless chassis design, extended functional heat sinks, and a rear panel precision-milled from solid aluminum, the 218 delivers a clean, puristic aesthetic alongside immense dynamic capacity. Built around a fully symmetrical, continuously DC-coupled signal path without sound-distorting capacitors, its input stages feature Burmester’s proven X-Amp technology for immaculate tonal realism and fine-grained detail. Driven by a massive power supply with exceptional current reserves and a frequency-stable damping factor, the 218 maintains effortless authority over even the most demanding loudspeaker loads. Handcrafted in Berlin and bridgeable into a high-power mono configuration, the Burmester 218 represents the ultimate harmony of speed, spatial transparency, and musical warmth.

The German company Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH, founded in Berlin in 1977 by Dieter Burmester, sets the global benchmark for high-end audio technology. To this day, it remains an independent family-run business that combines uncompromising engineering, handcrafted production at its Berlin workshop and an unmistakable design featuring chrome front panels. It has a long history of firsts – from the world’s first modular preamplifier to the first belt-driven CD player. In 2005, it became the first high-end manufacturer to enter the automotive world, and today its sound can be heard in Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari cars.
Its product range includes pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers, phono pre-amplifiers, CD and network players, turntables, mains conditioners and loudspeaker systems. More than 95 per cent of the components come from German manufacturers, and every unit undergoes a seven-day burn-in period before dispatch, involving more than 300 computerised measurements and a final listening test. Burmester products are designed to last for decades – they are reliable, repairable and ready for future upgrades.
