The Burmester 101 Integrated Amplifier represents a masterclass in hybrid audio engineering, combining proprietary in-house Class-D output technology with a heavy-duty, analog-built power supply. Engineered and handcrafted in Berlin, the 101 delivers the iconic Burmester sound—warm, rich, and effortlessly dynamic—while offering exceptional energy efficiency. Its fully balanced, DC-coupled signal path bypasses sound-degrading capacitors to achieve maximum transparency. Designed for versatile listening, it features a switchable "Smooth" function that psychoacoustically optimizes low-volume resolution without artificially boosting frequencies, ensuring a full, textured soundstage at night-time levels. Complete with a front-panel headphone output, balanced Pre-Out flexibility for external amplification, and the signature mirror-chrome fascia, the 101 is an ideal entry into pure high-end playback.

The German company Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH, founded in Berlin in 1977 by Dieter Burmester, sets the global benchmark for high-end audio technology. To this day, it remains an independent family-run business that combines uncompromising engineering, handcrafted production at its Berlin workshop and an unmistakable design featuring chrome front panels. It has a long history of firsts – from the world’s first modular preamplifier to the first belt-driven CD player. In 2005, it became the first high-end manufacturer to enter the automotive world, and today its sound can be heard in Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari cars.
Its product range includes pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers, phono pre-amplifiers, CD and network players, turntables, mains conditioners and loudspeaker systems. More than 95 per cent of the components come from German manufacturers, and every unit undergoes a seven-day burn-in period before dispatch, involving more than 300 computerised measurements and a final listening test. Burmester products are designed to last for decades – they are reliable, repairable and ready for future upgrades.
