Preamplifier Burmester 088 Preamplifier Black
Description
The Burmester 088 Preamplifier from the Top Line series represents the perfect harmony of intuitive operation, timeless aesthetic elegance, and uncompromised sonic performance. Direct-inherited from the flagship Reference Line 077, the 088 features a true dual-mono architecture for maximum channel separation and a fully DC-coupled signal path without sound-distorting capacitors, delivering exceptional bass speed and articulation. Its chassis rests on carbon-fiber spring feet that mechanically decouple the unit to eliminate microphonic effects. Featuring adjustable input sensitivities (-6 dB to +12 dB) across all inputs, optional 24-bit/192kHz upsampling DAC or phono modules, and seamless home theater integration, the 088 is enclosed in Burmester's iconic mirror-chrome fascia. Handcrafted in Berlin, it delivers effortless dynamic authority, a jet-black background, and a deeply emotional musical presentation.

Burmester
The German company Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH, founded in Berlin in 1977 by Dieter Burmester, sets the global benchmark for high-end audio technology. To this day, it remains an independent family-run business that combines uncompromising engineering, handcrafted production at its Berlin workshop and an unmistakable design featuring chrome front panels. It has a long history of firsts – from the world’s first modular preamplifier to the first belt-driven CD player. In 2005, it became the first high-end manufacturer to enter the automotive world, and today its sound can be heard in Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari cars.
Its product range includes pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers, phono pre-amplifiers, CD and network players, turntables, mains conditioners and loudspeaker systems. More than 95 per cent of the components come from German manufacturers, and every unit undergoes a seven-day burn-in period before dispatch, involving more than 300 computerised measurements and a final listening test. Burmester products are designed to last for decades – they are reliable, repairable and ready for future upgrades.
